When your five year old wants a heart-shaped Little Mermaid birthday cake, your five year old gets a heart-shaped Little Mermaid birthday cake! This $25 heart-shaped Walmart cake was already on my radar (it went viral a few months ago) but we're dye-free so I wasn't sure if it would work for us. With a call ahead to Walmart's bakery department to double-check about any dyes they might use and ordering some fun chocolate molds, we were able to make the prettiest Little Mermaid cake!
THE CAKE DETAILS.
The cake itself is the prettiest Valentine's Day cake ($24.98) that they sell year round. It has the vintage detailing on the sides; it's truly gorgeous all on its own. We called ahead to ask if they could make this white (I'm sure they were thinking "is this a wedding cake?" 😂) and then I researched what frosting they used to make sure it was dye-free (it was!). Pick up was a few days later and it looked exactly how it did online. They did such an incredible job!
To make it more "Little Mermaid" (without the dye), we opted for white chocolate molded details for seashells and letters and then dyed them with natural food coloring. They came out SO well. I definitely didn't have a nervous breakdown over them and my mom had to come and save the day. Definitely didn't happen. 😁 My biggest advice? Don't overthink melting the chocolate. Do it in 30 second intervals in the microwave or melt in in a bowl over hot water on the stove (the better option, honestly).
Wow, this Walmart Cake Glow Up in The Little Mermaid style is magical! The transformation truly shows how creativity and little detailing can make a big difference in bringing out a theme. It reminds me of how even the most complex academic topics can be turned into something impressive with the right support. For instance, just like this cake glow-up, students can achieve their own academic glow-up by seeking expert guidance, such as operation research assignment services, which simplify tough concepts and present them beautifully. Creativity, whether in baking or learning, really makes everything shine brighter
