Hi babes! I have been dying to review this palette since I posted the MAC & Sephora VIB Haul but I got so sidetracked with other posts and life that I haven't had a chance to check it out until now. It's the Kat Von D Chrysalis Palette!

The Kat Von D Chrysalis Palette is a cool-toned eyeshadow palette with a savvy composition of shades - three large base shades and nine transformative accent hues - for a spectrum of stunning eye looks. The eyeshadows are triple-milled for a soft, dense shadow that is easy to blend and apply. The eyeshadow formula includes an infusion of antioxidants like rose extract, vitamins A, C and E to keep your eyelids hydrated and protected.

So let's talk about the packaging first. It's absolutely stunning and fits the theme of "Chrysalis" while still keeping a Kat Von D feel with the skulls in the wings but I'm a bit bummed it's made of a hard cardboard rather than the tin packaging from Kat's last palettes. It's definitely sturdy but it's not tin. The inside contains a nice long mirror on the top.

Although I prefer the shade's names be next to or underneath the actual shade, I'll take them being on the back of the packaging. Thank goodness they're not on a inlet on top of the palette that you lose within like, five minutes of opening.

  • Lifelike - a matte cream. A base shade. Super silky and butter soft. Incredibly pigmented for a light color.
  • Hybrid Moments - a matte deep purple. I'd say this is a burgundy-toned purple. Pigmentation was nice but was a bit drier than the other shades.
  • Mezzanine - a sparkle violet. Sparkly, indeed! This shade is a frost with some larger sparkles. Pigmentation was great and easy to work with with no fall out.
  • Transition - a pearl mauve. Quite possibly one of my favorite shades of the bunch. Super soft and easy to work with. Pigmentation was on point.
  • Lunar Lights - a pearl grey. A base shade. Ugh, another favorite! So buttery soft and lovely to work with. Pigmentation was amazing.
  • Glasswing - a matte caramel. The perfect crease shade for transitioning! The texture is super soft and buttery. Awesome color payoff.
  • Melancholia - a pearl silver. I'd describe this as more of a metallic pewter. Pigmentation was incredible and the texture was super soft and easy to work with.
  • Black Milk - a matte grey. Who doesn't need a beautiful matte grey? Pigmentation was fab, texture was awesome. I feel like I just need to copy and paste at this point. Ha!
  • Lucid - a sparkle rose. A base shade. I would describe it as a milky pink with subtle glitter. This shade was just alright for me. It was a bit powdery and seemed to disappear when I blended it out.
  • Graphic Nature - a pearl charcoal. Pigmentation was great but the texture was bit on the drier side.
  • Entombed - a pearl blue. I would describe this as more of a dark, cobalt blue pearl. I was so excited to see this shade but was a little disappointed with the texture. A bit dry and sheer when applied.
  • Tornay - a matte navy. Another gorgeous shade but came up a bit dry in texture. Pigmentation was great.

Kat Von D Chrysalis Palette

Overall: I absolutely LOVE this palette and now I'm even more eager to tear into the other new Kat Von D palette - Monarch. It'll be up soon, I promise! Almost all the shades in this palette were absolute perfection to work with and the pigmentation is just out of this world. My favorite shades are Transition and Melancholia. I've heard the huge concern with this palette is just how to use it but I think there's so many different looks - for day and night - to create with this palette.
