This post is sponsored by BabbleBoxx.com on behalf of popchips.

As a self-proclaimed recovering helicopter mom, I'm having the hardest time sending my oldest off to school. There. I said it. I'd like to say that I "healthy hoverer" (if that's even a thing?) and know I can't control everything but it's tough as a mom.

So, while my little guy is heading off to school, gaining some independence (I'm definitely not crying or anything about it), I know that at least I got his back when it comes to a healthy school snack in his lunchbox - popchips!

Did you know that a great, well-rounded lunch for your child should include a food from each food group - dairy, veggies, fruits, grains and protein? Okay, cool. That sounds great and all (and hey, it's great to aim for that) but sometimes kids see cucumbers and run the other way so I need to sneak in those things in the forms of yummier things, if you catch my drift.

Thankfully, popchips aren't one of those things I need to hide and a great "grain"! Have you tried them? If you haven't, you're totally missing out. My kids are huge snackers but there's a lot of unhealthy snacks out there. popchips are popped - never fried - potato chips! Not only are they gluten-free and non-GMO but they're made with real ingredients so this mama feels good about giving them to her little guys. They're under 130 calories per serving so *ahem* this mama also feels good snacking on them herself!

Not sure which one to try? No worries! popchips now comes in a variety pack, combining two of popchips best selling flavors, in one bag so you can have the best of both worlds:
  • Sea Salt - Total classic. These are Hunter's favorite! Eat them by themselves or pop them into your fave dip or hummus. My boys LOVE hummus!
  • BBQ - All the good things about BBQ, squeezed into a yummy chip. These are mine and Brody's favorites! I swear, these chips taste like they just came off a BBQ smoker. Yuuuuum!
popchips also makes bold and crunchy Ridges as well as protein-packed Nutter Puffs (my kids love these as well)! They really have the whole good-for-you snacks thing locked down!

A few other ways I like to jazz up Hunter's lunch box and make sure he's getting what he needs while he's at school is:
  • Letting him pick out his lunchbox before school starts. Really hype it up! Him choosing his lunchbox kind of gives him a "big boy boost" and something he can get excited about. Kind of like when we pick out a cute water bottle so we'll drink more water, y'know? No? Just me? Ok.
  • Use a bento box. If it's one thing I've learned as a daycare teacher, kids get overwhelmed  with options quick. I like the bento box as it gives his food little individual sections (ours has three) and keeps everything neat and simple.
  • Add accessories. This kind of contradicts the tip above, but as long as you keep it simple, it shouldn't be a problem. We found really cute silicone cups to put snacks in (think strawberries, cucumbers, etc.) in that keeps the mess to a minimum and everything contained to one place. They're squishy so you can pop them into any spot. We also like these little dinosaur toothpicks to keep their sandwiches from falling apart!

WHAT'S ONE SNACK YOU KNOW YOUR CHILD WILL EAT?
