New mamas need all the help they can get, am I right? Whether you're looking for a gift for a "seasoned" mama or one who is welcoming a little one for the first time, I'm here to share with you what I like to call the "unsung hero gift ideas" for new mamas and their babies!

These are gifts that a new mama really needs - or at the very least a gift that she won't get a million of (I'm lookin' at you, baby socks)!

1. MAKE A DONATION TO A CHARITY IN THEIR NAME.

Have a new mama that already has everything she needs? Consider making a donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities® in the new parent's name! Have you heard of the Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®)? Gosh, I remember hearing about them all the time when I was younger and everything that they do to help families.  RMHC is a wonderful charity that helps children and their families all around the world (over 60 countries and regions) through three core programs: Ronald McDonald House, Ronald McDonald Family Room and Ronald McDonald Mobile Care. These programs offer a home away from home for families that need to travel far to receive medical care for their child, provide a comfortable, private place for families to relax, right in the hospital and bring dental, medical and health care directly to underserved communities.

2. SPIT HAPPENS.

Laundry detergent is the epitome of an unsung hero gift idea and makes for a great one for a new mama! Spit up, blow outs and goodness knows what else happens on the daily and the laundry is a-flowin' nonstop. Oxiclean Free & Clear is a favorite around here because it's gentle enough to use on babies clothing but tough enough to remove those pesky stains all while remaining free of dyes, perfumes, chlorine or optical brighteners. That's a tall order to fill! I like to use it as a stain pre-treatment for the really tough stains, but you can even add it to your load as a stain-fighting sidekick to your own detergent for extra help!

You can find Oxiclean Free & Clear here as well as at Target!

3. SQUEAKY CLEAN MEMORIES.

Parenting hack time: bath times aren’t just for getting baby clean! I can't tell if that's a hack or a secret, but I'm sharing it anyway. Bath time can be used as a sweet bonding moments between a new parent and their newborn. It can be added as part of a bedtime routine. Heck, we use bath time as just a fun activity to do some days. Baby wash is a double whammy of a gift as you're giving a new mama something she's definitely going to need as well as gifting her a bonding experience. #bestfriendaward

We love using Baby Magic at bath time! It’s dermatologist-tested and free of parabens, phthalates, dyes and sulfates. The Gentle Hair & Body Wash contains nourishing Calendula Oil, Coconut Oil and Shea Butter and has a wonderful lather that leaves our baby’s skin super duper soft. This wash is SO luxurious!

Right after bath time, we like to do "baby massages" and pretend we're giving Sienna a spa day by applying the Gentle Baby lotion. It contains Vitamins A, B and E as well as Aloe to keep your baby’s skin soft and hydrated while leaving a soft, classic baby scent!

4. A BOOK FOR EVERYONE!

If you’re looking for a gift for a mama with older little ones waiting to welcome a new sibling, I highly recommend getting a fun book they can spend time together with and read as a family! We love Rock from the Sky by renowned author/illustrator Jon Klassen from Candlewick Press! Little ones will love how easy it easy to read (Hunter is just learning how to read and gained so much confidence from reading this book) and older siblings will enjoy the humor! The book is definitely one we grab for over and over again.

You can buy Rock from the Sky by Jon Klassen on Amazon here!

5. POST-PARTUM CARE!

Let me introduce you to two of a new mama's best friends. The KeaBabies 3-in-1 Postpartum Recovery Support Belt and their Baby Wrap CarrierI only wish I had known about post-partum recovery support back when I had my first baby. It's fantastic for gently realigning the body and posture post-partum. Real talk: I’m ten months post-partum and sometimes still feel pressure in my hips that I swear is from being pregnant. The immediate support I felt while wearing was so relieving!

KeaBabies also knows the importance of how to "create wonderful moments together" with baby with their amazing baby wrap carrier. It’s super stretchy but snug and distributes the baby’s weight beautifully for safe baby-wearing (without putting pressure on mama’s back), all while remaining hands-free! It's super easy to use. I can’t even count how many times Sienna has fallen asleep while I was wearing her in a carrier. Total miracle-worker!

6. A SPECIAL WAY TO TALK ABOUT FEELINGS WITH LITTLE ONES.

Becoming a big sibling can be some tough shoes to fill in for the first (heck, even second, third, fourth, etc.) time. I adore this gift box set from Hoppy & Poppie as it's filled with items that can help create a safe place for big emotions to be talked about and worked through. Not SO Scary and What We Feel are two wonderful board books for babies included in the set that talk about feeling nervous, scared, sad, calm, peaceful and how to develop the emotional intelligence to share those feelings. The set also includes a super soft 100% GOTS certified Patoo, Hoppy & Poppie zipper plushies (these are so cute!) and emotion wristbands. Looking for more info on emotional intelligence?
