Happy Halloween weekend! Looking for an easy - but homemade! - treat for the festivities? I've got you covered! There is nothing better than homemade rice krispy treats but they can get messy and time consuming. I recently found this amazing recipe from Rumbly Tumbly and it is now my go-to recipe!

This recipe from Rumbly Tumbly has become my favorite homemade rice krispy treat recipe of all time! It's easy, with prep time clocking in under 10 minutes, thick and undeniably tasty with it's secret ingredient! We tweaked the ingredients list just a smidge for a gooey-er treat!

you will need:
  • six cups of rice krispies
  • seven cups of mini marshmallows (hold one cup for the end!)
  • six tablespoons of melted butter
  • dash of vanilla
  • dash of salt - this is the KEY ingredient and seriously levels the entire recipe up!
  • optional: sprinkles, food coloring, etc.
  • grab a big microwave-safe bowl and toss the marshmallows (hold one cup for the end!), butter, salt and vanilla in.
  • microwave the marshmallows in 30 second intervals. ours took two turns but everyone's microwaves cook differently. make sure to combine the marshmallows and butter together before the next part.
  • butter a silicone spatula (this helps the marshmallow not stick to it) and slowly start mixing in the cups of rice krispies!
  • once the rice krispies are combined well, add the last cup of marshmallows in!
  • spray a 9x9 with nonstick spray and move the rice krispies into it, pushing down lightly.
  • chill for at least 30 minutes.
  • optional: once firm, use metal cookie cutters to create fun shapes!
